(last revised 4/20/2012)
As described in more detail herein (please see below for more detailed information), we generally collect: (1) information that you provide to us if and when you register with a Site(s) (which may include PII, such as, for example, your full name and email address); and (2) information that we obtain by automated or passive means (such as "cookies") which track your activity on the Sites by assigning a number to your device and tracking activity without linking that information to your personally identifiable information ("PII"). PII is generally information that would allow you to be personally identified, contacted, or located (such as an email address, first and last name, telephone number, etc.) OR the combination of other personal information and/or non-personal information that, when combined, allow you to be personally identified, contacted, or located (such as a first name combined with occupational or geographic information that would reasonably lead to you being personally identified).
Information We Collect
Information provided by you
Information collected through your use of the Sites
While you visit the Sites, ETA and/or its third party providers may collect certain non-personal information about your visits to the sites. The information may be collected through automated or passive means, such as web-beacons, cookies, embedded script and similar technologies. ETA uses such services to track the effectiveness of the Sites, our content, our marketing and our emails. ETA currently uses "cookies" on our Sites. Our cookies tag each visitor's browser with a random, unique number. The cookie simply assigns a number and does not disclose any PII about the person using the browser. By noting where these uniquely numbered browsers go on our Sites, we can study traffic patterns and improve our Sites to better fit our customer’s needs.
ETA uses this information to make informed business and marketing decisions and for analytical purposes and strategic business assessment.
Information collected by third-parties
We may engage third parties to provide us with site assessment, marketing or other services, which third parties may be provided with or collect PII about you for purposes of processing data, serving certain content (such as on-demand features), and improving the Sites. These third parties may collect information using cookies, web-beacons or other technology. Specifically, ETA may use the services of third party analytic, monitoring, targeted content serving (such as on-demand services) and functionality services. These third parties may collect or have access to your non-personally identifiable information and certain non-sensitive PII (i.e. excluding financial information, information about minors, healthcare and medical information, but possibly including location, job title, and similar information). IF YOU DO NOT WISH FOR US TO ALLOW THESE THIRD PARTIES ACCESS TO YOUR INFORMATION, YOU SHOULD NOT USE THE SITES.
Except as set forth herein we do not share PII with any other third parties. And, under no circumstances do we share information with third parties about minors, your financial information (except as may otherwise be disclosed to you in additional terms or purchase terms for purposes of processing transactions) nor medical or health information.
Protecting Your Information
ETA takes all commercially reasonable steps to keep your PII confidential. Those steps include limiting access to your information databases, communicating this policy statement to all ETA employees and establishing and enforcing practices for maintaining the integrity of our security practices and penalties for violating this statement.
We gather personal information so we can better develop our relationship with you. Occasionally, we seek your comments on our products and services. These comments allow us to determine which products and services you should be made aware of based on your specific needs.
We will communicate with you via email or other online delivery devices only if you agree to receive those communications. Those who believe they are receiving our communications in error or no longer desire to receive them, should inform us and we will remove those clients' names from our mailing lists by simply contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org. In addition, you will be provided the opportunity to "opt-out" of future communications whenever we send electronic correspondence to you. ETA will be judicious in the use of email and paper mail to communicate with you. We will, at all times, put ourselves in the place of the recipients of our mail and treat you as we ourselves would like to be treated. And we will never intentionally send you communications that you have informed us you do not or no longer desire.
Whenever reasonably necessary and as required by law, we store sensitive information (such as credit card information and other sensitive PII) in strongly encrypted form to protect the information. We take safeguards with all unencrypted and easily removable physical data such as keeping removable media in a locked space and employing computer ”locks" when someone steps away from a computer that has access to sensitive information. We employ further internal data security protection and have procedures in place in the event of a data breach to minimize the breach and to promptly notify both you and the appropriate authorities.
We regularly destroy obsolete records using industry standard or higher standards.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13 nor do we allow users under the age of 18 (or the age of majority in the jurisdiction in which they reside) to transact business on the Sites. In the event that we discover that information about a minor under the age of 13 has been transmitted to the Sites, we will immediately delete the information (excepting as we may be required to maintain records for legal purposes – in which case such records shall be sealed and secured and used only in the event that we are legally required to produce the information pursuant to a valid legal order).
