VersaTiles Math CD-ROM FAQs
- Why do I get this funny looking floating W (or floating M)?
The floating M is Macromedia's logo, which indicates you need to download Macromedia Flash Player from Adobe - How do I copy the program to my network?
Create a folder called VersaTiles on your network drive. Double click on your CD-Drive and grab the entire contents of the CD-ROM to drag it to the VersaTiles network folder. - How do I share from the network to individual computers?
There are two ways to do this. First, there is a file named index.html in the VersaTiles folder. Create a shortcut to this and drag it onto the individual computer's desktop. Second, you can give permissions for each individual computer to access the VersaTiles folder on the network drive. - Will the VersaTiles Network CD-Rom work on my Network?
We have not run across any networks where this does not work, but please contact ETA hand2mind if you have specific questions concerning your network. - Will the VersaTiles CD-Rom work on my computer?
As long as your computer meets the minimum requirements, the CD-ROM will work. The minimum requirements for Windows are: Windows 95, CD-Rom Drive, Internet Explorer 4.0 or Netscape Navigator 4, and Macromedia Flash Player Version 6. The minimum requirements for Macintosh are: System 8.6, CD-ROM drive, Netscape Navigator 4.5 or Internet Explorer 5.0, and Macromedia Flash Player Version 6. - Can I put the Network version of the CD-ROM on every computer in my school building?
Yes. The Network version gives permission for every computer in a building. - Can I put the Network version of the CD-ROM on every computer in my school district?
No. The Network version only gives permission for every computer in a building. Each building of the district would have to purchase its own Network CD-ROM. - How do I install the Network Version onto my school's
network?
The easiest way to install the CD is to create a folder called "VersaTiles" on your network server. Then copy the contents of the CD into that folder. There is a file called index.html that you can click on to launch the program, so if you create an alias (MAC) or a shortcut (PC) to this index.html file in a shared folder, then students will be able to launch the file. If you cannot use a shared folder, then you will have to go to each computer and copy the shortcut/alias onto each computer separately.
