"The Solar Science Station is a non-soldering solar USB charger. Use it as a tool for recording solar data in the classroom and as a power supply for gadgets. We've designed it around a large 6V 200mA solar cell that sits on a rotating axis (with degree measures), so you can adjust the angle. We have also engraved degree measures on the side. Record heaps of scientific data by having students measure the angle in degrees, the time of day, and the voltage output on the LED Voltmeter display!
The kit can be assembled with only a screw driver and wire stripper, which means it is 100% reusable."
Introduce igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks to students. Chart explains the difference in these three types of rocks and measures 5 1/2" X 4 1/4". Specimens measure 1/2" to 3/4".
Allow students to see how chemistry can be used in a beneficial manner. Most students are probably familiar with heat packs, or hand warmers. Utilizing the release of chemical energy, these self-contained exothermic reactions are quite useful in cold environments. In this activity, students will first investigate the temperature change of an exothermic reaction and then examine how the oxidation of iron, in a process similar to rusting, can be used to create the little bags of heat used to keep hands and feet warm.
